Doall these cleansers and lotion actually make acne-prone skin worse?

Shane Uehara asked:

i’d always been using acne products like salylic acid cleanser and BP lotion and proactiv stuff etc etc. my skin has never really been acne-free from those products
just recently I had a light chemical peel and i am forced to use just the cetaphil and obagi moisturizer.. i find the gentle cleanser actually feel a lot better than all these harsh stuff even those i don’t have sensitive skin.
Instead of going back to the program, should i just use the gentlest cleanser, like cetaphil or purpose, and use blotting sheets during the days, and do exfoliate twice a week, and go get a good exfoliation facial once or twice a month. isn’t that better than using all these chemical on me?
